How to Maintain Your Lash Lift and Eyebrow Lamination at Home
Share
Getting a lash lift or eyebrow lamination done is one thing. Keeping the results looking great for as long as possible is another. Both treatments can last six to eight weeks with the right aftercare — or fade in half that time without it.
Here's everything you need to know to protect your results and extend the life of both treatments.
The first 24 to 48 hours are critical
Whether you've had a lash lift, eyebrow lamination, or both, the first 48 hours after treatment are when the results are most vulnerable. The chemical process that sets the shape needs time to fully stabilise, and anything that introduces moisture, heat or friction during this window can cause the curl or shape to relax prematurely.
For the first 48 hours:
- Keep lashes and brows completely dry — no washing your face over the treated areas, no steamy showers, no swimming
- Avoid touching, rubbing or pressing the treated areas
- Sleep on your back if possible — pressing lashes into a pillow distorts the curl
- No mascara on lashes, no brow products on laminated brows
- Avoid saunas, steam rooms and intense exercise that causes sweating
Lash lift aftercare
After the initial 48 hours, lash lifts require minimal ongoing maintenance. The main things that extend the life of your lift are:
Avoid waterproof mascara. Waterproof formulas require oil-based removers to take off, and oil breaks down the lash lift bond over time. Stick to regular mascara if you use it, and remove gently with a water-based micellar solution.
Keep lashes conditioned. A lash serum or conditioning oil applied nightly from day three onwards keeps the lashes flexible and prevents them from becoming brittle. Castor oil applied with a clean spoolie is a simple and effective option.
Be gentle when cleansing. Rubbing the eye area vigorously when removing makeup is one of the fastest ways to damage a lash lift. Use gentle, downward strokes and avoid tugging.
According to the British Association of Dermatologists, avoiding harsh chemicals around the eye area is important for maintaining both skin health and the integrity of any lash treatment.
Eyebrow lamination aftercare
Laminated brows need a little more ongoing attention than a lash lift because the brow hairs are more exposed to daily habits.
Brush them daily. Use a clean spoolie every morning to brush your brows into shape. This trains the hair direction and keeps them looking intentional rather than flat. Brush upward and outward in the direction of the lamination.
Moisturise the brow area. Lamination can dry out the brow hairs and the skin beneath them. Apply a small amount of brow serum or nourishing oil from day three onwards, working it through the hairs with a spoolie.
Avoid brow tinting immediately after. If you want tinted brows, have the tint done before your lamination, not after. Applying tint over freshly laminated brows can cause patchy results.
Avoid picking or over-plucking. Lamination flattens the hairs against the skin, which can make stray hairs more visible. Resist the urge to over-pluck — remove only the hairs that genuinely need to go, and leave the rest until the lamination has settled.
How long should results last?
With good aftercare, both a lash lift and eyebrow lamination should last six to eight weeks. Fine, soft hair tends to hold the treatment for less time than coarser hair. Oily skin can cause brow lamination to relax faster, so a light brow gel used daily helps maintain the shape.
If your results are consistently fading within three to four weeks, review your cleansing routine — most early fading comes from cleansers or makeup removers applied directly over the treated area.
